Welcome to Church View Surgery



                                                                         We continually strive to provide the best possible standards of care and service.




The Practice was established in 1892, originally extending out to Patrington, but concentrating as the population grew at the surgeries at Hedon and Keyingham. The Hedon surgery started out in a little room in the Market Place, moving to 8 Market Hill and expanding there twice before outgrowing this and finally entering the current premises in 1989. Further extensions have been added to meet the clinical needs of our patient population.

Our Keyingham surgery retains its traditional village surgery atmosphere following interior changes.

As well as a source of information about our practice, the staff and the services we provide, we hope you will use this website as a useful resource for other health-related information.

We have gone live with a new online system called eConsult. It allows patients to self-check symptoms and receive medical advice without attending the Surgery. You can use this 24 hours a day and if needed our GPs will respond no later than the end of the next working day. You will also have access to reliable and trustworthy self-help information and other local healthcare services that may help you avoid an appointment altogether. Friday Open Surgery

In order to improve acute access we now have a new appointment system on a Friday (Hedon surgery only). The reason behind this is the need to be able to offer timely support for problems before the weekend. Our hope is that it may also reduce the number of wasted appointments, especially at a time when GP appointments are very valuable.


We will have appointments available, which are only bookable on the day, and are not doctor specific. Our GPs will instead see patients on a ‘next available basis’ which should help to reduce waiting times. We would hope that by only seeing acute problems there will be less of a need to see your usual doctor.

In order for these appointments to work effectively we ask that patients visit with only one problem (you may be asked to return at a later date to discuss further problems).


There will still be some pre-bookable appointments available for the GP at Keyingham and with our Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Julie Storey) and Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Michael Moore) at Hedon.


Missed Appointments

From 1st – 31st July 2017 119 patients DID NOT ATTEND their appointment.

This is the equivalent to 8 surgeries. 20 and a half hours of appointment time!

If you feel you do not need the appointment or are unable to attend please contact us so we can offer the appointment to another patient. From September the Practice will be contacting patients who do not attend for their appointment. Thank you.


Patient Group and Suggestion Box

Did you know that we have a Patient Group? The idea of the patient group is to have a representative group of patients we can contact when we have ideas or questions about the future of the Practice. If this is something that is of interest to you please click the link on the right of this page.

We also have a suggestion box at our surgery in Hedon. Please feel free to leave your ideas or suggestions there. We are always looking to improve our services to you and are grateful for your input. Thank you.

Friends and Family Test

Home Visits

If you are too unwell to attend the surgery please phone us before 10.00am. The receptionist will request your full name, address, telephone number and brief details about the nature of the problem. This will help us be certain that urgent calls are seen promptly.

Remember, we can see three or four people in the surgery in the time an average visit takes.


Named GP for Every Patient

Every patient at the Practice has been assigned a 'Named Accountable GP'.  This is a contractual obligation on the practice from NHS England.  If you have not been informed of this already and if you wish to know your allocated GP then simply ask and we will tell you.
